Music Ministry

In the Traditional Worship service we enjoy a wide variety of music. The service incorporates a blend of praise and worship medleys along with the traditional Methodist hymns and other music ranging from classical to gospel.

Our Chancel Choir enjoys a wonderful time of fellowship at our weekly practices on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30. Everyone who enjoys singing is welcome at any time.

Our Seasonal Hand Bell Choir meets from mid-January until Easter and from mid-September until Christmas. Everyone is invited to practice on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30. Knowledge of music is NOT needed to play hand bells. Anyone who can count from 1 to 8 is welcome. Hands of all genders, sizes and ages are needed!

The service music is rendered from our beautiful new Viscount organ, made in Italy and designed to provide all the sounds of a pipe organ PLUS the synthesized sounds and effects of many other instruments. The organ fills the sanctuary with excitement, tradition and a truly worshipful experience.

The wonderful grand piano adds an additional layer to the music blend.

Musicians of either of the keyboard instruments and of any accompanying instruments are welcome to serve the Lord through music at Sugar Hill UMC. Just let us know how you want to serve, and we’ll find the right spot for you.

A Note from Kathi Walker:

We have a fantastic music program here at Sugar Hill United Methodist Church. The reason we have such a good program is the people who participate.  These dedicated church members and friends give their time and talents to help us worship and give praise to God. Each member of our choir had to make a decision to join. That decision may have been easy, difficult, and a little scary.  However, these people have never regretted joining.  If you are the slightest bit compelled to try the choir, I want you to know that you are needed and very welcome.  It may seem like a big commitment, but it is not as much as you may think and the reward will be greater than any sacrifice.

If you would like to participate in the choir, please contact Kathi Walker at rk_wefish@valornet.com
