Our Mission Statement

"To walk with youth in their journey to know Christ by creating an environment in which youth can experience Christian communion to hear the gospel to know God's love and to respond in faith by loving and serving others...for in all of this we are making disciples of Jesus Christ."

Sugar Hill United Methodist Church recognizes how important the middle and high school years are. They are a time of challenge, change, fun, and confusion as our youth investigate who they are in the Lord. SHUMC Youth Group helps teens on that journey of self-discovery. Our youth are vibrant members of the church community.

Our youth group is open to all kids in grades 6-12. All area middle and high schools are well represented in the group, creating a natural, healthy diversity.

Sunday school for jr. and sr. high students is held on Sunday morning from 9:45-10:45 in the youth suite near Wren Hall. The Youth meet every Wednesday night at 5:30 for food, fun, and fellowship.  The Youth group also meets on the third Sunday at 5:30 p.m. for movie night and dinner is provided.

The SHUMC youth group, under the leadership of Youth Director Carmen Hoffmeyer, is a sound, solid, Biblically based program that allows open discussion and study of the Scriptures and their relevance today.

With an average youth group attendance of 14 youth, our group is small enough that new attendees will feel very welcome in this tight-knit group.

If you are interested in learning more
about our dynamic youth program, please contact Carmen Hoffmeyer at 870-772-5707.

Souper Bowl of Caring
Over 15 years ago, a single prayer led a senior high youth group to a simple, yet powerful idea to fight hunger and poverty in their community. The Souper Bowl of Caring calls youth to action-individuals, youth groups, civic organizations and schools are making a difference in the lives of others through this simple movement of caring. www.SouperBowl.org .   SHUMY will be participating in this wonderful program on February 4th.  Please help us feed our community by donating can and/or dry goods.
